FONTY "LA FILATURE DE ROUGNAT"
The French brand Fonty produces high quality sustainable yarns with respect for our environment and with care for what we leave to future generations and with a fair trade mark.
Fonty "la Filature de Rougnat" is fully autonomous and one of the last wool-spinning and wool-dyeing factories in France. It was founded in 1880 in Rougnat, a small village located on the hills of the Creuse, on the banks of the river Cher. Known as Les Combrailles, this rural and remote area was a place for breeders and the textile industry. This old factory is among the treasures of local history and has been labeled "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant"(EPV, Living Heritage), it means that it has an extraordinary know how , which has survived and been passed down from one generation to the next . The fabrication consists of original processes, specialized skills, experience accumulated over the years and refined techniques, together with traditional industrial tools and machines, which the team repairs, renews and gradually completes, thus referring to the tradition of this textile area.
