Fonty "la Filature de Rougnat" is completely autonomous and one of the last factories in France for spinning and dyeing wool. Created in 1880 in Rougnat, a small village situated on the hills of the Creuse, on the banks of the river Le Cher. Known as Les Combrailles, this rural and remote area was a place for breeders and the textile industry. This old factory belongs to the treasures of the local history and has been labeled “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” (EPV, Living Heritage), which means that it has an extraordinary know-how, which has survived from one generation to the next has passed. The manufacture consists of original processes, specialized skills, experience gained over the years and refined techniques, together with traditional industrial tools and machines, which the team repairs, innovates and gradually completes, thus referring to the tradition of this textile area .
